Meet The Staff

Infant Toddler Program

Kim Bird
attended the University of Louisville and is currently pursuing a Psychology degree from Argosy University. She has worked at Meriday Preschool for two years in the 2s and was excited to make the transition to Second Pres.   Kim lives in Oldham County with her husband, and two dogs, MJ and Boogie. She enjoys reading, playing the piano and watching movies in her spare time. Kim is looking forward to co-teaching in Toddler B with Lesley Dallas.

 

Lesley Dallas
is excited to join the 2nd Pres family co-teaching with Kim Bird. She is the founder and owner of Mom 4 Today, a mobile educational childcare company since 2008. She has taught preschool for 16 years, including Mom 4 Today, St. John Preschool, Kindercare Learning Center in Knoxville, TN and homeschooled her children’s’ preschool. She has an AAS degree from Jefferson College and an AS Degree with an Early Childhood focus from Pellissippi State. Lesley has 4 children, ages 21, 19, 16 and 5 and enjoys spending time with her husband and chidren, playing tennis, kayaking, ballroom dancing, reading and teaching 3s and 4s in Sunday School.

 

Sarah Dumeyer
studied sociology at the University of Louisville. She has worked with all ages at 2nd Pres, both as a substitute teacher and in the Extended Day Program and ITP After Hours Care. Sarah enjoys running outside, listening to music and spending time with her family. She is very excited to be part of the 2nd Pres. team.

 

 

Nina Hilbert (Coordinator)
joined our staff in January of 1998 after having served Second Presbyterian Church working with the 2s in Sunday School and in the Parents’ Day Out program. Nina graduated from U of L with a BA in Liberal Studies. For fifteen years Nina co-taught in the 2s. In addition to teaching 2s, Nina was one of our coordinators for the Lunch Bunch Program. She and her husband, Steve, have one daughter, Jackie (age 22). Nina is currently coordinator of our Infant Toddler Program.   Her hobbies include gardening, walking, and reading.

 

Leigh Anne McNamara
joined the ITP team last year. She has been married for 13 years and has been a stay at home mom to her three children (ages 8, 6, and 2). Not only does she have on hand experience from her own children, she comes from a family of educators. She graduated from Murray State University. Leigh Anne volunteers in her church childcare weekly, and enjoys reading, going to the gym and spending time with her extended family. Leigh Anne is in the Infant Room with Stephanie and Cassandra.

 

Amy Russell
is excited to join the 2nd Pres team. She has been a stay-at-home mom for 8 years to children Cooper (age 9) and Sidney (age 5). Both of her children attended 2nd Pres. and she has served the school in many ways through room-parenting and volunteering in various areas around the school. Most recently, she has enjoyed serving as a substitute teacher with infants through 4 year olds. Amy graduated from Eastern Kentucky University. She enjoys gardening, going to the movies and spending time with family and friends.

 

Stephanie Schneidtmiller
worked as a teaching assistant in kindergarten for JCPS prior to teaching in the ITP. She has a BA in Psychology & BS in Business Management from Georgetown College. She & her husband, Chris, have a 5th grade son, Jackson, and Lucas, who is 6. Her hobbies include playing with her boys, enjoying almost all sports, & reading. Stephanie joins Leigh Anne and Cassandra in the Infant Room.

Katie Smither
started at Second Pres. as a substitute teacher working primarily with the twos. This is her third year to be part of our Infant/Toddler program and she co-teaches with Sarah Dumeyer and Amy Russell. Katie has also worked as a nanny for many years. She has received her Associates Degree in Art and is currently working on her Early Childhood Development degree. Katie enjoys the outdoors, spending time with her family and going on vacations.

 

 

Cassandra Zimmerman
has a Masters degree in Human Development from Salve Regina University and a Bachelors degree in Art from Fresno State University. This is her third year at 2nd Pres. and is currently serving five days as co-teacher with Leigh Anne and Stephanie. She lives in Prospect with her two children, Olivia and Nate, and her husband, Christopher. She enjoys traveling, reading, and home decorating.

 

 

ITP Support Staff

Lori Dabney
graduated from U of L with a degree in business. She returns to 2nd Pres after a ten year absence when she worked in the office before leaving to join the administrative staff at St. Francis School in Goshen. She will joining our ITP staff as an administrative assistant. Lori and her husband, Gordon, have two daughters who are both alumni of Second Pres. She loves to bake and walk in her spare time.

 

 

Joelle Leiferman
Joined the ITP staff last year serving as support staff and teacher in our Extended Day Services. Prior to her experience, she has served as a 2s teacher at First Kids. Joelle recently graduated from Campbellsville University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. This summer she was a part of a study group to Reggio Emilia, Italy, immersing herself in the philosophy and practices of early childhood in the region (the schools that have greatly inspired 2nd Pres!). Joelle is a musician and enjoys being an aunt!

 

Ali Ryan
joins us full time this year as Support Staff in the Infant Toddler Program after working as a sub much of last year. She graduated from U of L with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree and worked at Glassworks as well as Chance School as a substitute teacher. She lived in Germany for 2 years where she volunteered at the CDC on the army post working with 4 year olds. Ali returned to Kentucky for yoga teacher training at Yoga East and has enjoyed teaching our children yoga!

 

2s Staff

Kristi Conrad
has been in the twos and ITP for the last couple of years as a floater and a sub, and joins Kim Pitchford this year in the 2s. She graduated with a degree from Purdue University with a degree in hotel management and studied early childhood at Indiana University. She and her husband, Dave, have a son, Hutch, and a daughter who is a senior at UK. They also own a sewer rehabilitation company. Kristi enjoys traveling, exercising and going to the beach.

 

Kristen Hayden
will teach with Sara Larson this year in the twos. She graduated from IUS with a BS in Social Science with an emphasis in Education. Kristen was a preschool teacher for JCPS for 12 years and at Highland Pres for 5 years. She has also been a nanny. She and her husband, Jason, have an 8 year old son who is growing up way too fast and a baby girl, Charlee was added to the family this spring! In her spare time, Kristen enjoys reading, music, spending time with her family and friends and vacationing at the lake and the beach.

 

Sara Lewis
graduated from University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Family Studies (Applied Child Development). She began her teaching career at St. Francis Preschool teaching 2 year-olds for 5 years. Sara spent several years as a full time mom to Warner (16), Morgan (14) and Ryan (10). She is looking forward to teaching 3s at 2nd Pres with Cathy Morgan again this year.

 

 

Kim Pitchford
joins Kristi Conrad to teach the other 2s team. She lives in Goshen with her husband and 3 teenagers. Kim previously taught 2s at St. John Preschool in Oldham County for six years and also served as the 2s team leader, special interest area teacher and facilities coordinator.   Kim received her degree in communications from U of L and after realizing her passion for 2 year olds, returned to school to receive her Child Development Associate degree. Kim enjoys spending time with her family, vacations, camping, walking and attending her children’s activities.

 

Jennifer Harcourt
is excited to be teaching Twos with Jamie White this year after subbing for the last year. Jennifer and her husband, Hill, have had two children, Kennedy and Ashton, who attended the Weekday School, and Hill is an alum as well. She also served for three years on the Board. Jennifer graduated from East Caroline University with a BS in Political Science. She taught preschool before having her own children, and is looking forward to being back in the classroom. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family, needlepointing, reading, and exercising.

 

Jamie White
graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Jamie began as a facilitator at 2nd Pres and has taught the 2s and 3s.   This year she will be in the twos with Jennifer Harcourt and coordinator or our Lunch Bunch Program. In her spare time, Jamie enjoys spending time with her dogs, family and friends. She loves the outdoors, and her favorite place to be is the beach! She also likes to work out, walk, watch movies and read.

Melissa Bahe
graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Child and Family Development. Previously, Melissa helped in the Art Room with Ms. Brenna and was a substitute teacher in the 2s, 3s, and 4s classrooms. Melissa and her husband, John, are both Second Pres alumni. They have two sons, Alex, who completed his journey at 2nd Pres three years ago, and Miles, who completed his journey here in 2014. Melissa enjoys spending time with her boys, tennis and running and is excited to be working with Mrs. Morgan in the 3s this year.

 

Connie Butler
joined our team in 1989 and has taught in our 2s, 3s and 4s over the years.   Connie also teaches in our Extended Day Lunch Bunch program. Austin and Robert complete the Butler family with Connie and husband, Bob. Connie has a three year old grandson, and a 15 mos. grandson and her son Robert is doing his residency in Providence, RI.

 

 

Cathy Morgan
earned her degree in education from Stephens College and is excited to be teaching 3s with Sara Lewis. She and her husband Doug have 2 daughters that were “Second Pres. Kids”. Cathy enjoys time with her family, the outdoors, reading, cooking and more!

 

 

Debbie Robson
graduated from Murray State University with a B.S. in Early Childhood Development. Before coming to Second Pres, Debbie taught 2s and 3 year olds at St. Francis. She and her husband Todd are parents to twins Lilly and Jack, age 12, and Anna Marie, age 9. Debbie enjoys time with her family, reading, going to retreats and being a First Communion Catechist.

 

 

4s Staff

Kathy Dutton
graduated from UK’s Early Childhood program and has 28 years experience in 3 different states—KY, TX and Michigan for 7 years. The University of KY provided Kathy with two things: a degree in Family Studies and her husband, Mark. They have been blessed with two sons, Andrew and Daniel. Her favorite things to do are go on dates with her husband, read and write, hike, laugh with family and friends, and worship her Lord and Savior every day.

 

Christine Johnson
joined 2nd Pres. as a Facilitator. She is excited about teaching the 4s again this year with Sherri Romano. She graduated from Gettysburg College with a BA in Art History and has a graduate degree from Drexel University in Library Science. She has been a Children’s Librarian in both public schools and libraries around the country. Christine has also taught the 2s and 3s. Christine and her husband Rich have 2 children, Katelyn (18) and Emily (11). Christine enjoys reading, taking walks, and traveling.

 

Sherri Romano
graduated from Va. Tech with a BA in Elementary Education and has her Masters in Early Education from University of Louisville. Sherri has taught for 20 years, most recently in the Oldham County school system as a substitute. She also taught at St. John United Methodist Church preschool and Goshen Elementary for 10 years. Sherri and her husband, Tom, have 3 children: Stephanie (25), Christina (a senior at UK) and Nick (an freshman at Christian Academy). She is looking forward to teaching with Christine Johnson again in the 5 Day 4s.

 

Valerie Wedding
has a Child Development degree from U of L. Before coming to Second Pres, she taught two year olds at Sacred Heart. She has been married for ten years and she and her husband have a shark-loving six year old kindergartner. She is excited to be teaching the fours again with Kathy Dutton.

 

 

Kindergarten Staff

Kelly Gant
has an Elementary Education degree from Transylvania University. Kelly has previously served as a co-teacher in a 3 and 4s multi-age class, 4s co-teacher and on the Kindergarten team. She also taught at Liberty Elementary in Oldham County. Kelly and her husband, Lenny, enjoy spending time with their sons Owen and Campbell. In her spare time, she jogs and makes jewelry. She and her co-teacher, Karla Wright, head up the Kindergarten team.

 

 

Karla Wright
joined our staff 15 years ago. She received a degree in Early Childhood Education from Champlain College in Burlington, VT. She has a variety of experiences with 3 to 6 year olds and has been a Teacher Trainer in Indiana. Karla has four children, Izaak (22), Nathan (14), Lily-Katherine (11) and Lincoln (8). She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and many church activities. She heads up the Kindergarten team with Kelly Gant.

 

Support Staff

Sara Larson
comes to us by way of Anchorage Schools. She received a degree in Elementary Education and Intercultural Studies from Grace College. Sara brings her passion for young children from her work at her church, Crossing Church, and also from three years teaching with two year olds at a daycare. She and her husband, Andrew, have a one year old, Oliver, and are awaiting the birth of their second child to their family.   She and her husband enjoy hiking, trying new local Louisville restaurants and watching movies.

Brenda MacMillan-Geisler
(Early Childhood Interventionist Coordinator)
is married to Chuck Geisler and has three children, Henry, Campbell, and Kell, all 2nd Pres. Kindergarten alums. She has spent the last 25 years working with children with autism and related disorders. Brenda received a Masters degree in Speech/Language Pathology from Miami University (Oxford, OH) and began working at 2nd Pres Weekday School in 2001. Her interests include playing outside, hiking, and traveling to the beach.

Sara Scott (Director of Extended Day Services)
came to us by way of Byck Elementary and the Louisville Catholic School System. Sara is responsible for co-planning and co-leading activities in the Extended Day Program as well as coordinating Lunch Bunch reservations and also serves as a classroom facilitator. Sara tries to find time for gardening and needlepoint. She and her husband, Bruce, are enjoying their empty nest as their son, Alex, heads off to U of K for his senior year.

 

Kim Sego (Music)
has degrees from U of L and Spalding University in elementary education and library science. She has over 27 years experience working with children from preschool to 5th grade. Kim has played piano I her church for 19 years and led children’s choirs for 8 years. She is excited to explore the world of music and movement and learn from Karen this year. Last year Kim taught the Twos with Kim Pitchford and is making the transition to the Music and Movement class this year. Her favorite pastime is spending time with her children-Dillon, who attends the Speed School, Christa who will be a Hilltopper at WKU this fall, and Lily, who a 2nd grader at Walden. Kim also enjoys tennis, gardening, or sitting on her patio reading a good book.

Karen Stonebraker (Movement)
has been with 2nd Pres since the mid 1990s as our movement/physical education specialist. She has previously worked at AJ and St. Francis preschool. Karen and John, her husband, enjoy cooking, gardening, and hiking. Karen has one daughter, Karanina, and two grandchildren. She enjoys gearing up for our annual Spring Sing and ‘Flings’!

 

 

Brenna Tysinger (Art Specialist)
comes to us from Highland Presbyterian’s PDO where she worked and studied the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early education for five years. She has spent many years in the art field, most recently working at Glassworks. Brenna is a local photographer with her own business—Willow’s Images. She has two wonderful boys, Nicolas, age 13 and Keenan, age 10, both at Christian Academy. Creating through art is a way of life for Brenna . She enjoys running and reading a great book.

 

Classroom Floater

Hill Walthall
has worked at Second Pres for over 10 ten years, serving as a twos teacher, a substitute teacher and as part of the office staff. She graduated from Ivy Tech where she studied business. Hill and her husband, Tom, have two children, Mason, who will be a freshman at NKU in the fall, and Parker, a sophomore at Ballard. In her spare time, Hill enjoys traveling with family.

Office Staff

Carolyn Gordon (Administrative Assistant)
holds a Masters in Education from U of L in Early Childhood Education and has experience teaching 3 and 4 year olds, kindergarten, and special education in primary classes before coming to 2nd Pres. She is retired from teaching Kindergarten after 21 years at 2nd Pres. and now serves as part of the Office Staff! Carolyn and Eric, her husband, keep busy with church activities and enjoy traveling and cycling together now that their three daughters, Lauren, Amy, and Leigh Anne are grown. Carolyn also enjoys spending time with her five grandchildren.

 

Jane Roth (Administrative Assistant)
joined the staff of the Weekday School in December, 2013 after serving on our Board for the past 3 years. She works in the office, oversees the Library and works in the ITP. Jane is a member of 2nd and has served on the Mission Committee, and was part of the team that began the Bible study, Morning Joy. Jane has two daughters, Lucy, a recent graduate from Denison University, and Annie, an upcoming sophomore at Ohio Wesleyan University.

 

Lisa Warner (Director)
is beginning her 22nd year as Director! Prior to coming to 2nd Pres. Lisa taught Head Start and public school Kindergarten in Augusta, KY. served as Director of Eastern Kentucky University’s Child Development Center, a laboratory for 3 and 4 year olds, and also served on the faculty for 11 years, teaching courses in Child and Family Studies. She and Michael, her husband, have two daughters, Hannah , a new mom of Elsie, Lisa’s first grandchild, in Durham, NC, and Claire, a current teacher at _____. Lisa and Michael enjoy gardening and church activities, and love visiting their new granddaughter.

 

Patty West (Business Manager)
is a former Board Chair, Treasurer and alum parent of Second Pres. Weekday School. Patty graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Psychology and Business. She and husband Bill have three children, Dabney, William, and Caroline – all 2nd Pres alums. Patty enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and tennis.
