Second Presbyterian Weekday School was founded in 1954, making it one of the oldest early childhood facilities in the Louisville area. The school, established as an outreach ministry to this community, is nonsectarian in that we serve children of all denominations. Though born of the Christian faith, we believe that a diverse enrollment enhances our school community. The school was established to support the developmental dimensions of the whole child – – physical, emotional, social, cognitive, moral, spiritual, and creative development…a founding philosophy that remains firmly intact.
In 1994, we first became accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), a voluntary process, whereby exemplary programs are recognized following a stringent review of the schools’ curriculum, environment, health and safety standards, parent involvement, administration and professional development. We have since completed the accreditation process 3 times.
